Captai is built on a "Privacy-First" architecture. We don't just protect your data—we ensure we don't hold it in the first place. Your content is yours, always.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the essential information required to provide and improve our services:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we store your email address for authentication, subscription management, and customer support.
- Usage and Technical Data: We collect anonymous metadata such as device type, operating system version, and app performance logs to diagnose bugs and improve user experience.
2. Media and Gallery Access
Your trust is paramount. Captai employs system-level file pickers (such as the iOS/Android Photo Picker), meaning:
- We never have broad access to your entire photo library.
- The app can only "see" and process the specific video files you explicitly select for transcription.
- Local processing is prioritized whenever possible to minimize data transmission.
3. Data Processing & AI Transcription
Our AI-powered transcription is designed with a "Zero-Retention" policy:
- Encryption: Data in transit is secured using industry-standard SSL/TLS encryption.
- Processing: Audio data is sent to our secure processing nodes to generate transcripts.
- Immediate Deletion: Once the transcription is complete, the original audio and the resulting text are permanently purged from our temporary processing servers.
- No Training: We do not use your private videos or transcripts to train our AI models or third-party algorithms.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
To provide specific functionalities, we may use trusted third-party services. These providers process data according to their own privacy policies:
- Authentication & Analytics: Firebase (by Google) for secure login and app stability monitoring.
- In-App Purchases: RevenueCat or App Store/Google Play billing systems to manage your subscriptions.
- AI Infrastructure: We use secure AI providers (e.g., OpenAI) for transcription, governed by strict data-privacy agreements.
5. Data Retention and Security
We retain your account information (email) only as long as your account exists. We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. We use administrative and technical safeguards to protect your data from unauthorized access.
6. Your Legal Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Regardless of your location, we respect your privacy rights, including:
- Access and Portability: You can request a copy of the minimal data we hold.
- Correction and Erasure: You can update your information or delete your account at any time.
- Immediate Deletion: Use the Settings > Delete Account feature within the app to instantly wipe all associated data from our systems.
7. Children's Privacy
Captai is not designed for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately from our servers.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Modified" date and, in some cases, providing an in-app notification.
